The String Cheese Incident
Hailing from Telluride and Crested Butte, Colorado and formed in 1993; the band comprises of Michael Travis (percussion and drums), Michael Kang (electric guitar, electric/ acoustic mandolin, and violin), Bill Kyle Hollingsworth (organ, Rhodes, piano, and accordion ), Nershi (lap steel guitar, acoustic guitar as well as electric slide guitar), Keith Moseley (bass guitar) and Jason Hann (with his auxiliary percussion). With elements of electronica, calypso, country, rock, funk, jazz, reggae, occasional psychedelia , Latin and progressive rock–this is one band to watch out for at the Festival!
Rock, jazz, hard rock, funk, progressive rock, folk, bluegrass, psychedelic rock, and blues….music by Phish blends elements belonging to a diverse range of genres. Their improvisational style; originality in selection/order of songs; and stunning performances have won them millions of fans from all across the world.
The Grateful Dead
Reputed for its eclectic and unique style, this American band was formed way back in 1965 in California. The Grateful Dead fuses elements of bluegrass, blues, reggae, rock, folk, country, psychedelia, improvisational jazz, and yes, space rock too! Oft referred to as the Godfathers of the world of jam bands; they have sold over 35 million albums across the world.
The Allman Brothers Band
This amazing American blues/ rock band originates from Jacksonville, Florida and was formed by brothers Gregg Allman and Duane Allman ; along with Berry Oakley, Butch Trucks , Dickey Betts and Jai Johanny Johanson. They are appropriately the principal proponents of southern rock and skillfully blend elements of jazz, country music and blues in their live shows.
The Black Keys
Yet another American rock band, The black Keys was formed in the year 2001 in Ohio and boasts of Patrick Carney (drums) and Dan Auerbach (vocals, guitar). Their raw blues rock sounds draw heavily from the influences of Auerbach. Don’t miss their “Tighten Up”, which won three Grammy Awards in 2010!
